Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The 1.05 Queen’s Gambit (2008)

Andy Good’s built a new version of his chess-playing computer, a better but more unpredictable learning machine, a Turk 2. He’s entered into a chess playing competition where the first prize is a military contract and Cameron’s initial tactic of killing the endearingly enthusiastic genius looks to be horribly inevitable.

7/10

Good Terminators are useful. For doing Maths homework. It’s a nice touch and, along with an entertaining grief counseling session and a couple of good plot points, helps make this another strong episode. Also Lena Headey’s Sarah Connor feels better here and I hope this balance of her character is maintained. Richard T. Jones’ FBI Agent and Dean Winters’ ex-lover have also been given some care by the writers so far which is highly appreciated. Again, the gentleman Terminator makes you appreciate just how brilliant Arnold Schwarzenegger was in the feature films.

This Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The episode contains extreme robot violence, gory and unpleasant scenes.
