|Damages 1.02 Jesus, Mary and Joe Cocker (2007)
With Katie Connor manoeuvred to testify against Arthur Frobisher, Ellen is stunned and confused when Patty tells Katie she is lying and throws her out of the office. Still, it’s enough get Frobisher even more concerned about her possible testimony and he is offered the chance to fix the problem permanently. Six months later, the police remove the brutally beaten body of Ellen’s fiancée David Connor from the apartment and find her engagement ring on the floor.
This week revolves around getting to the truth of Katie Connor but the full import of the identity of the dude she had sex with (Peter Facinelli) is not yet clear. Actresses Anastasia Griffith (who plays Katie Connor) and Rose Byrne (playing Ellen Parsons) both have the same problem: they and their characters are not as interesting as Glenn Close’s Patty Hewes or Ted Danson’s Arthur Frobisher. Both Close and Danson knock each and every scene out of the park and one is salivating at the prospect of seeing them meet. Danson is an under-appreciated actor simply because he was so brilliant as Sam Malone in Cheers and it is a delight to see him being equally brilliant while doing something very different here.
This Damages episode contains mild swear words, adult dialogue and graphic substance abuse and unpleasant and gory scenes and a sex scene.
