Bug Fixes

  • FileExtensionFilter was not used for files in the main recordings directory. It was only used for files in the sub-folders of the main recordings directory. That is, FileExtensionFilter was not being used if “Auto-create folders for recording” in their GBPVR configuration was unchecked. Thanks to betbest1 for reporting this bug and providing the information requested so I could solve it.

Slimm GB-PVR Version 1.6.2705.25961 released

GB-PVR
To install:

For all details regarding current version, please see documentation which is installed alongside the utility and is available in the GBPVR start menu group.

This release:

Features

  • Option to start GB-PVR whenever Slimm GB-PVR is loaded. Request: “Would it be possible to add another checkbox that makes GBPVR.EXE get launched every time SlimmGBPVR is launched? Sometimes I shutdown SlimmGBPVR, then when I rerun it would like it to launch GBPVR for me.”
  • The auto-restart recording service now does not fire if the GB-PVR Config application has been run within the last minute. This stops it attempting to restart the recording service at the same time as the GB-PVR Config application.
  • Slimm GB-PVR can now auto-kill any GBPVRTray processes while it is running.
  • Maintenance Mode added to Tools menu.
  • Running recording service checked for on startup. If not running and auto-restart is disabled, a warning balloon is shown with information on how to restart it.
  • Auto-restart recording service feature is checked on startup. If not enabled, a warning balloon is shown with information on how to enable it.
  • Tools -> Restart Recording Service. If Maintenance Mode is enabled, this could leave the auto-restart recording service feature disabled so you are asked whether you would like to automatically turn off Maintenance Mode.
  • OfferToDeletePlayedRecording and SmartDateTodayHours to Registry settings.

Bug Fixes

  • The tooltip for the checkboxes under Tray Configuration -> Startup all had the wrong tooltips because I copied the section “Database disconnect during EPG update”.
  • Upper limit for number of items on Pending menu changed from 10 to 100.

Coding

  • Added more logging to power management and delayed shudown areas.
  • Sub-menu appearance changed slightly.

    Slimm Stopwatch 2

Slimm Stopwatch is a little stopwatch utility that automatically shrinks to the task bar when you start (or continue) the timer. While in the task bar it continues to show you the elapsed time. When you click the task bar to restore the window, the timer stops.

I use it for timing public talks I deliver. I write the talk in Word and then need to practice it but I found all other stopwatch utilities always managed to be or feel in the way. So I wrote this. Version 1 was written in Visual Basic and had a less streamlined interface though the actual minimising to the task bar upon start and stopping upon restore idea was the same.

This is a pre-release of the utility as I haven’t yet got around to making a nice page for it on my website or deciding how to upload it to Upload.com.

Here is a Flash animation demonstrating what it does. The animation was created using Swish 2. The animation isn’t yet quite finished as it doesn’t have a way of stopping the sound effects but I will get around to doing that soon.

    To install:
