Marine, The (2006)

Ex-Marine John Triton pursues a deadly gang of thieves that have kidnapped his wife.

5/10

Efficient bottom-shelf actioner which doesn’t forget to linger lasciviously in slo-mo on the generous number of explosions. Wrestling star John Cena is okay (he also co-wrote and co-performed the end credits song) but there is no hint of potential super-stardom that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson keeps demonstrating.

This movie contains single sexual swear word, mild swear words, adult dialogue, child abuse-related dialogue and extended extreme violence, gory and unpleasant scenes and sexuality.

One Foot in the Grave 4.01 The Pit and the Pendulum (1993, TV) – 8/10

One Foot in the Grave 4.01 Pit and the Pendulum, The (1993)

Victor is busy killing tropical fish and is having trouble with yet another workman.

8/10

While the clumsy emotional content is awkward (though punctured brilliantly) there are two legendary visual gags this week: Victor picking up the dog to answer the phone and Victor buried up to his head in his own garden! The dog, in particular, is one of the all-time greatest comedy moments in television history. It’s so good you wish there was a slow-motion action replay. Thank you, YouTube.

This One Foot in the Grave episode contains mild adult dialogue.
