Steam Images

Steam icon 48x48Whenever you added a non-Steam game to your Steam library, the resultant tiny, lost icon stuck out like a sore thumb. Steam now allows you to set custom images for all items in your library, including non-Steam games. Here are a few images I have made for myself derived from official artworks and images found on Google Image Search. If you are the copyright holder or original artist and wish me to remove an image, please contact me.

To use

  1. Find an image: all the images have captions so you can use your browser’s Find feature (F3 or Ctrl-F usually) to type the name of the game you are looking for and jump straight to it.
  2. Right-click an image and save to your computer.
  3. In Grid view, right-click an item in your Steam library, select Set Custom Image… and Browse to your saved image.
  4. Confirm your selection to see the updated item (Grid view only).

  1. Hello, how do you set your custom image inside the template? Not steam, I mean how do you put an image inside those ps2, gamecube, psp…etc templates?

    1. The easiest way is with a multi-object image manipulation program like Photoshop (I use Photoimpact; GIMP and Paint.NET are free ones).

Then you can load your original artwork, resize an area of it to the size of a Steam custom image (460×215) then load the template as a new object and place it over the top. When you save the image as a JPG, the objects are merged into a single image that can be loaded by Steam.
